PANCHAKARMA

Ayurvedic treatment attempts to establish a balance between bodily humors. According to Ayurveda first eliminating the toxins (excess doshas) that are responsible for the disease, is very important in the initiation of any form of treatment. . The neutralization of toxins can be applied on both physical and emotional levels.

Panchakarma is basically cleansing process that not only treats diseases but also improves health to achieve longevity and rejuvenation. According to individual's health status, one or more processes can be useful for improving the health. Pancha means five and Karma means action or process. These five processes are:

Vaman (Emesis-lung & stomach cleaning), Virechana (purgation or laxative-liver & intestine cleaning), Basti (medicated enemas-colon, rectum), Nasya (nasal administration-Nose, throat) and Raktmokshan-blood letting (purification of the blood).

VAMANA (Emesis)

It is a process of therapeutic vomiting (induced), which helps to eliminate the toxic or waste matters from the stomach and thoracic cavity. It works best to balance Kapha dosha.

VIRECHANA (Purgation)

This eliminates the toxic or waste matters from the intestine. It is an effective therapy for Pitta dosha disorder.

BASTI (Enema)

It is a treatment to eliminate the toxins from colon as well balancing the Vata dosha. It involves the induction of medicated oil, liquid herbal decoction into the rectum. Basti is highly effective in weakness, joint problems and dryness in the body as well as strengthening the nervous system.

RAKTMOKSHAN (Blood-Letting)

There are various methods that are used to draw out a certain amount of toxic blood from the body. This helps in detoxifying the blood helping mainly in various chronic skin diseases. In this procedure localized impurity or poison from the blood is removed through various methods. Often leech is used to suck out the impure blood from the affected area. Blood-letting is also done to eliminate toxins from the blood stream causing various chronic skin disorders like urticaria, eczema, scabies and leucoderma etc. The method was also effectively used to cure enlarged liver and spleen.

OUR OTHER PRIME TREATMENTS :-

SWEDAN

In swedan the body is made to undergo sudation or sweating by exposure to steam. With herbs added steam the body is made to perspire to loosen and excrete the toxins. Swedan is done locally or on the full body and helps in various sicknesses including arthritis.

PIZHICHIL

In this treatment lukewarm herbal oil is applied all over the body in a special rhythmic way. This treatment is very useful for Rheumatic diseases like arthritis, paralysis and hemiplegia.

DHARA

In this process, some herbal oils or medicated milk or medicated buttermilk is poured on your forehead in a special method. This treatment is mainly for insomnia, vata predominant diseases, mental tension and certain skin diseases.

SNEHAPANAM

In this you are given medicated ghee to be taken orally for a no. of days. This is also a preliminary process for Vaman, Virechana and Vasti. This treatment is for osteo-arthritis, skin diseases etc.

SIROVASTHI

Specially prepared herbal oils are poured into a cap fitted on the head. This treatment is highly effective for facial paralysis, dryness of mouth, nostrils and throat, severe headaches, burning sensation of the head and other Vata-oriented diseases.

KIZHI

In this procedure herbal leaf, herbs or herbal powders are applied to your whole body in boluses with hot medicated oils. This treatment is effective for all types of arthritis, spondilosis, sports injuries etc.

BASTI

In this treatment sesame or herbal oil is kept on the effected area for 15 to 20 minutes. This treatment is especially helpful in Vata and Pitta disorders. The Basti is of the following types :
